ICDC Wireless Broadband is the alternative last
mile access technology in the local area which uses radio
frequencies (RF) to connect to the Internet. The advantage
of wireless broadband is that is can be rapidly deployed, is
highly scalable and is cost effective in comparison to other
services. The ICDC Wireless Broadband system is a
faster service than dial-up, ISDN, DSL, MMDS, cable, or satellite.
The ICDC Wireless Solution provides access speeds from 128k to up to
6.2 Mbps. You can start out at the lowest service level and then have your bandwidth increased in about 90 seconds with a single phone call.
The ICDC Wireless system operates in the 5GHz-unlicensed National
Information Infrastructure band, commonly called the U-NII band.
The DSP (Digital Signal Processing) technology used for this fixed-wireless solution was formerly used by the US military and recently opened up for commercial use.
ICDC Wireless system uses standard interfaces for ease of installation and easy connectivity to any IP network using off the shelf retail router/firewall combo units typically used in conjuction with DSL and cable modems (RJ45 WAN port connection).
Because of the shorter range than other wireless alternatives
(MMDS or Satellite), the ICDC Wireless system employs a smaller
customer unit, which is lower cost and easier to install.
The ICDC Wireless solution is very simple for the end-user to operate and requires no specialized training since it is deployed much like a DSL or cable modem.
ICDC Wireless system provides over-the-air encryption, which cryptographically scrambles the data
bits, preventing anyone "listening" to the airwaves from deciphering
any messages. This is actually safer than DSL or cable modem connections as data sent through them is not encrytped at all!
