> Do you currently provide internet access for residential customers?
We can supply service to residential customers, however the same rate for services and equipment apply.
> Do you experience outages or slow-down based on inclement weather?
No, The wireless connectivity and speed has proven to remain constant throughout all types of inclement weather. We've tested the throughput during heavy rain, snow and fog and found no decrease in speed.
> Do you experience outages or slow-down based on bandwidth starvation (like cable ISPs do)?
Each wireless customer's connection is independent of any other customer's connection. This is not a shared pipe in the way the cable internet service connects multiple users to the same line in the area. An ICDC Wireless connection stands alone like a DSL connection and does not suffer from bandwidth starvation issues.
> Do you make any guarantees as to bandwidth availability or connection uptime?
Once you qualify for a specific speed, you are guaranteed to get that speed. For example if you're location is qualified at 1.5Mbs or 768Kbps, then that's what you get. ICDC WIreless guarantees a 99.9% uptime as the wireless service has been in operation since September of 2002 and we have not yet experienced any downtime at all. So far it's been 100%.
> Do you allow extra static IP addresses to be purchased? If so, what is the charge?
One static IP address is provided with the connection. Additional IP addresses will cost $10 per IP address per month extra.
> Do you block or filter any ports for any reason?
No. We do not filter or block ports on the connection, however this can be accomplished with a router/firewall setup on your end.
> Do you allow reverse lookup on purchased static IP addresses?
Yes, we can provide reverse lookups on an assigned static IP address.
> Do your terms of service allow:
>>(a) NAT (Network Address Translation)?
Yes
>>(b) running servers (email, web, dns, ssh, etc)?
Yes
>>(c) Advance notice in writing of changes in the terms of service?
Yes
> What is the installation procedure, and what testing is done to make sure that I can recieve and send RF signals of sufficient strength?
All testing is done at the initial on-site qualification and again at installation time. The installation typically calls for the mounting of the Subscriber Module and Reflector Dish onto the customer's building. Very similar to the set up of a sattelite cable TV dish. The cabling used to connect the SM unit is standard outdoor-grade CAT5e. There is a surge supressor installed between the Subscriber Module and the point of entry of the network cable into the building to protect the internal equipment from a lightning strike.
As far as references go, ICDC Wireless has been endorsed by the Delaware County Emergency Services center as they were our first customer on board. The 911 Center uses the ICDC Wireless connection as part of their mandated Homeland Security requirements. ICDC WIreless provides a route of communications alternate to a land based line. At this point, we are now their primary access to the internet. See their letter of endorsement.
In order to pre-qualify your location for the ICDC Wireless Internet Service, Please fill out our Pre-Qualification form to have us determine if your location can receive the signal.
Installation would be within 2 weeks upon receipt of the signed contract. If our installers are available to do so, they could install the equipment within the week of your sign-off on the contract.
